A Lasting Legacy of Giving Back
On 6 August 2026, the Sunshine Trust was honoured to receive a cheque for $39,004.23 from the Albury Wodonga Practitioners Taxation & Graduate Groups, marking the culmination of more than 33 years of professional collaboration, learning, and community contribution.
This generous gift builds on the group's longstanding support of cancer care in our region. In 2013, the group made a previous donation of approximately $7,500 during the early years of the Trust, demonstrating a commitment to supporting local people affected by cancer that has spanned more than a decade.
As part of the cheque presentation, members of the group shared their individual stories, professional achievements, and reflections on the friendships and connections built throughout the group's history. Established in 1992, the group provided professional development opportunities for local practitioners and graduates while fostering a strong culture of community involvement and support.
The donation represents funds accumulated through the group's professional development activities over more than 33 years, from June 1992 to November 2025. It stands as a testament to the values that have guided its members for more than three decades and their commitment to making a positive contribution beyond their profession.
What makes this contribution particularly meaningful is the cause it supports. Cancer has touched the lives of so many people in our community. Whether through personal experience, a family member, a friend, or a colleague, almost everyone has been impacted in some way. By choosing to donate to the Sunshine Trust, the group has transformed decades of professional collaboration into a lasting investment in the wellbeing of local individuals and families.
It is important to recognise the many members, past and present, whose participation over the years helped build this remarkable legacy. The Albury Wodonga Practitioners Taxation & Graduate Groups created opportunities for learning, networking, and professional growth while never losing sight of the importance of giving back to the community.
The Sunshine Trust sincerely thanks all members of the Albury Wodonga Practitioners Taxation & Graduate Groups for their generosity, vision, and unwavering commitment to supporting our community. Through their earlier contribution of $7,500 (from the Albury Wodonga CPA Group) and this donation of $39,004.23, the group has established a remarkable legacy of giving that will continue to benefit local individuals and families affected by cancer for years to come. In recognition of their outstanding support, the group's contribution will be permanently acknowledged through a plaque at the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre, ensuring visitors can see and appreciate the lasting impact of their generosity and community spirit.
