Community Invited to Celebrate the Launch of the 2026 Sunshine Walk

After raising more than $1.4 million for local cancer support services since 2019, the Sunshine Walk is preparing for its biggest year yet. Following a record-breaking 2025 event that attracted more than 1,000 walkers and raised over $170,000, the community is invited to join organisers for the official launch of the 2026 Sunshine Walk and meet this year's Champions, Cath Howard and Jebb Hutchison.

Organisers are excited to build on that momentum and make the 2026 event even bigger, bringing more people together to support the Sunshine Trust and local families who rely on its services.

The launch event will also introduce the 2026 Sunshine Walk Champions, Cath Howard and Jebb Hutchison, who will share their personal connections to the cause and their commitment to supporting the event.

Cath Howard said being appointed a Champion was a special honour.

"It is a true honour to be named a 2026 Sunshine Walk Champion.

My mother, my brother Phillip and I have all experienced firsthand the generosity of our community. I know how much this event and its support mean to families during some of life's toughest moments.

Last year, as a cancer patient myself, I clearly remember being told that the equipment being used during one of my tests had been purchased through funds raised by previous Sunshine Walks. That was a real 'wow' moment.

Those same funds have enabled me to access oncology exercise classes and rehabilitation following surgery and radiation treatment. It's a powerful reminder that every dollar raised stays local and makes a genuine difference in people's lives."

Fellow Champion Jebb Hutchison said he and his colleagues were ready to throw their support behind the event once again.

"It's an incredible privilege to be a Sunshine Walk Champion.

Through my business, TVN On-Country, we've raised almost $50,000 for the Sunshine Trust over the years and we're ready to go all out again in 2026 to help bring the sunshine to the border.

The Sunshine Walk is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together, have fun and support an organisation that has such a positive impact on local families."

The launch event will provide community members with the opportunity to meet the Champions, learn more about the 2026 Sunshine Walk and discover how they can get involved.
